How to use the Keyword Match Type Tool

  1. Paste your keywords. One per line. The tool lowercases them, removes symbols Google does not allow and merges duplicates.
  2. Choose match types. Pick broad, phrase, exact or any mix. Most B2B accounts start with phrase and exact, and add broad only with strong conversion tracking.
  3. Add negatives. Switch on the B2B starter packs for jobs, free tools, courses and DIY searches, then add your own competitor and product terms.
  4. Test and export. Type a real search to see if it would show your ad, then copy the lists or download a CSV for Google Ads Editor.

Frequently asked questions

What are the Google Ads keyword match types?

There are three. Broad match can show your ad for searches related to your keyword, even without the same words. Phrase match, written in quotes, shows it for searches that include the meaning of your keyword. Exact match, written in square brackets, shows it for searches with the same meaning as your keyword.

Which match type is best for B2B?

Phrase and exact match usually waste less money in B2B, because buyer searches are specific and the wrong click is expensive. Broad match can work once conversion tracking reports qualified leads, not just form fills, and a strong negative keyword list is in place.

Why does the tool list plural negatives separately?

Negative keywords do not match close variants or plurals the way normal keywords do. Adding "job" does not block "jobs", so both need to be on the list.

How accurate is the search tester?

It follows Google's published rules for word order and meaning, but Google also uses intent and close variants that no outside tool can see. Use it to sanity check your setup, then review the search terms report after launch.

Is my keyword list saved?

No. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is sent or stored.
